Very large seas are impacting the Oregon and Washington coastal waters today. Looking back at the last 20 years of data from the nearest buoys, waves of this magnitude only come around every couple of years, on average.
High surf will create very dangerous conditions on area beaches and coastal jetties through the rest of the day. We are also expecting impacts from coastal flooding in low-lying areas along the coast, with potential for significant beach erosion as well. These impacts will likely be most severe around the high tide between noon and 2 PM.
